LIFE re-WINTER
Recycling ski gear for a sustainable Winter Sports Industry.
From end-of-life ski equipment to high-performance gear back on the slopes. LIFE re-WINTER is the circular project that turns used rental products into new gear, reducing waste and keeping materials in play.

Brand description:
Specialized in the sorting of polymers, from polyolefins to highly technical polymers such as PA and PU.

Sort recycled materials and separate materials and plastic grades.
The circular
journey
Collection of End-of-Life Equipment.
Through Rent&Go, a rental network in Italy, we will collect 10,000 end-of-life skis, boots, and bindings. The equipment will then be transported by Innovando to recycling centers operated by our project partners, where it will be disassembled and/or ground for material recovery.
Turning complex waste into new resources.
One of the biggest challenges is the delamination of skis. To tackle this, we will use a novel dissolution process with bio-based solvents to separate the layers. Ski boots and bindings will be ground and sorted by plastic type, while further processing will enhance material properties for use in new high-performance ski equipment.
The main materials targeted for recovery include TPU, ABS, Polyamide, HDPE, and metals.
From recycled materials to new winter gear.
The recovered materials will be used to produce 1,000 new pairs of skis, boots, and bindings. Each product will feature a digital product passport, giving users access to a platform with details on origin, composition, environmental impact, maintenance and recycling instructions, and the ability to share feedback on their product directly with the brand.
